Bahamas: Fair Winds, Calm Seas
The islands of the Bahamas have long been a favorite destination of luxury yacht charter clients. This is tropical paradise of white sands, turquoise seas and amazing reefs with abundant sea life. Competitive sport fisherman and world-class divers love it here. Shallow bays and a gentle surf are ideal for family charters and leisurely island hopping. What makes the Bahamas particularly special is a totally relaxed, unhurried atmosphere that always rejuvenates the spirit.
The Bahamas offer numerous private charter yachts with itineraries to Bimini, Nassau, the Exumas and Eleuthera.
Bahamas luxury charters can be arranged aboard any type of yacht, from sportfish to superyacht. Guests enjoy first class service provided by a professional crew. A private chef prepares gourmet cuisine. All charters include the use of snorkeling and fishing gear and water toys.
In addition to pleasures on the water, the Bahamas offers excellent opportunities for shore excursions; hiking, shopping, a round of golf, or a pampered afternoon at a first-class spa.
Many charters begin in Nassau. If time permits, add a couple of days to your vacation to include a stay at one of several resorts. Depending on your preferences, you can find the amenities you enjoy, from casinos to giant waterslides.
Bimini is located just 50 miles off Florida’s coast. It is the closest Bahamian island to the United States. Renowned as Ernest Hemingway’s favorite escape, Jimmy Buffett also spent time here while writing his book. Martin Luther King, Jr. composed parts of his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech while sailing with local boat builder, Ansil, who still lives on the island today.
Bimini has an active sport fishing culture, great dive sites, and a ramshackle downtown area scattered with storied properties from yacht clubs to island-style nightclubs.
The Bimini Big Game Club, founded in the 1930’s, continues to be a premier destination for sport fishermen and their families. A lavish casino is located at Bimini Bay Resort and features 15 tables, 153 slot machines, sports book, and sports bar.
The Abaco Islands lie in the northern Bahamas and comprise the main islands of Great Abaco and Little Abaco, together with many smaller islets and cays. The Abaco Islands are known as one of the world’s top boating and sailing destinations due to a calm sea surrounded by charming islands.
On August 24, 2019 Hurricane Dorian leveled the Abacos. It was the most intense tropical cyclone on record to strike the Bahamas, and is regarded as the worst natural disaster in the country’s history. Recently we spoke with Bahamian authorities who said that progress toward rebuilding is moving forward remarkably well. In fact, the Leonard M. Thompson International Airport in Marsh Harbor was up and running in early September. However, it will be many months before these islands will be able to welcome tourists once again.
The Exumas are an exotic collection of ethereal islands, footprint-free beaches and ultra-exclusive resorts. The archipelago of 365 cays and islands is just 35 miles off the coast of Nassau/Paradise Island. Enjoy deep-sea fishing, reef fishing or bone fishing, you can do it all here. The flats of The Exuma Islands are world-renowned for challenging bone fishing. The 6,000-foot depths of the Exuma Sound typically yield record numbers of wahoo, mahi-mahi, tuna, barracuda, blue marlin, king fish, sailfish and more.
Eleuthera is a place where time moves very slowly. Here you’ll find island villages with pastel clapboard houses, stunning pink-sand beaches, secluded coves and miles of coastline. A Mecca for water sports enthusiasts, water activities include jet skiing, kayaking, parasailing, surfing and snorkeling. Dive or snorkel shallow shipwrecks just off shore. Harbour Island and Spanish Wells have an upscale vibe. Bicycles, golf carts, scooters or walking are the best ways to get around. Visit points of interests, chat with the locals, nap on the beach.
