Crew Profile

MEET THE CREW

Captain: Brad Korth
Chef/First mate: Cathy Korth

Brad and Cathy grew up boating, waterskiing, hunting, fishing and four-wheeling in the beautiful outdoors of Idaho. Meeting on a blind date arranged by Cathy’s uncle, who was Brad’s Gunnery Sergeant in the Marine Corps, they have been married for 24 years and have continued the active out-door life-style and love of travel and adventure. They love putting lots of miles on their Harley and have visited 38 states, scratching their itch to travel and see the U.S. In addition to travel, they enjoy running and completed the Seattle Marathon together in record slow time! This experience led them to believe anything is possible as long as you put one foot forward. After they both worked careers in corporate level positions in Legal and Health care careers, they decided the deck of a boat was more attractive than a boardroom. After a couple of seasons running charters in the Caribbean it is obvious it was a good fit.
Cathy’s love of cooking and baking expanded from cooking for friends and family to professionally baking for weddings, birthdays, and receptions. She enjoys cooking in the islands and incorporating the local flavors and colors into the meals. Her chunky chocolate chip cookies are to die for!
Brad first recognized a keen interest for water sports while working on his Eagle Scout Badge. Feeling more at home on water than on land, being on a boat is definitely his “Happy Place.” He always insists he has salt water running through his veins.
Their passion for sailing grew out of a trip to Tahiti and becoming acquainted with the cruising life. Coming home to Idaho they bought their first sailboat in a used car lot and taught themselves to sail on mountain lakes. Trading this first boat for a larger one, they attended a live-aboard ASA certification course in San Diego and shortly thereafter took their own boat and sailed in the Sea of Cortez. Yearning for larger sailing grounds, they relocated to the Pacific Northwest to chase the sailing dream and sailed extensively in Puget Sound, the San Juan and Canadian Gulf Islands and up into Desolation Sound. They lived aboard their own 42’ sailboat for 5 years when, wanting to share their love of sailing, they opened and operated a successful vacation property and day-charter business on San Juan Island. After becoming “empty-nesters” they realized their dream of living where “the weather suits their clothes” and continue to enjoy the chartering, hospitality, and sailing life-style in the Caribbean! Having a number of seasons of experience in the Islands they always enjoy sharing their love of the beautiful and fun places the islands have to offer.
