Select Yachts visited Y Not during the Antigua Charter Yacht Show and were delighted by this immaculate yacht with uncluttered decks and convertible berths. Despite preparations for a broker luncheon to be served in the guest cockpit under the shade of the brand new Bimini top, the crew, even busier than usual, took time out to chat with us, as well as cater to the steady stream of visiting brokers.
Y-Not is a Maxi 78, to date the only hull of its type constructed at CIM of Rochefort, France. Designed for performance and livability, the beamy yacht is comfortable inside and out. On a Caribbean yacht charter, you will likely spend most of the time outside on deck, enjoying the new sunpads, relaxing in the hammocks, gathered around the cockpit table, or taking a turn at the helm.

However, the spacious saloon designed with an open kitchen is a superbly comfortable and welcoming indoor space. A recent refit included the installation of a 55,000BTU air conditioner with digital controls in the saloon and cabins, and additional outlets for using and charging laptops, iPods, cell phones, etc, so you may stay connected in comfort. Upgrades also include new upholstery and soft goods, gentle LED lighting, a hot/cold, fresh water shower on the swim platform, and a 54” flat screen TV, giving Y Not the overall look, feel and technology of a new build.
The crew on board Y Not are very competent, delightfully easy going, and a perfect fit for a family charter. Captain Phil Martinson is passionate about sailing and experienced in teaching kids and adults. His sailing skills and calm demeanor make him an excellent instructor for both experienced andnovice sailors of all ages.
Mate/Stew Anna Bird has traveled all over the world on yachts, loves water sports, and guides you to the best spots for snokeling, diving, swimming and wake boarding. In addition to creating amazing dishes from fresh, local ingredients, Chef Jo Watts is always willing to prepare simple, comfort food, especially for the youngest of sailors. For foodies, Chef Jo can get happily creative, share a recipe, or demonstrate a special technique.
