SEALYON: 203’ of Pure Charisma
Launched in 2009 from acclaimed Italian shipyard Viareggio Superyachts, with exterior design by Espen Oeino and interiors by Candy & Candy, London, superyacht SEALYON (ex Candyscape II) is a build of exceptional glamour.
SEALYON has countless custom details, right down to the floor inlays, which add avant-garde dazzle to her every inch. The Select Yachts team toured the yacht with Laura Collison, 2nd Stewardess, who provided insight into how truly extraordinary are the layout, design features and craftsmanship.
In the main salon, an exquisite Schimmel transparent piano is both a delightful instrument and an artistic masterpiece. The service bar, positioned opposite the piano, offers further incentive to relax for a very happy hour or two, perhaps catch the news on the TV that slides upwards from behind the couch. Rotating glass fins serve to divide the main salon and formal dining areas into separate rooms, an especially clever architectural feature of flexibility.
Décor in shades of grey, black and white is unmistakably masculine. Hues and materials reminiscent of finely tailored men’s apparel reflect the sophisticated vision of the Owners. Floors are laid with Italian marble, sumptuous carpeting, or upholstered in supple, pale gray buffalo leather. Throughout the yacht, leather walls are decorated with delicate strips of almond gold, which outlines every single panel.

Laura explains that almond gold is a combination of gold, brass and silver metals. It takes the crew three weeks alone to polish every strip of it on the yacht. “Once you start the grueling job you can’t stop as the tarnished areas will be a completely different color,” she said. When Laura had new stews join the crew just as polishing had begun she stated philosophically, “you have the worst job to start, but on the positive side, it can only get better from here.”
SEALYON affords guests privacy. Amidships, the glass encased elevator, encircled by the buffalo leather–clad stairway has ”privy lights”, also referred to as “modesty misting”, installed to obscure one’s upward gaze. Forward on the main deck, the inner corridor leading to the master compartment can be closed off for complete seclusion from the rest of the yacht.
For an uninterrupted workout, close the door to the gym. Integrate into your routine the TV, iPod system, treadmill, Power Plate, free weights and Technogym. Exercise is accompanied only by uninterrupted sea views through oversized windows.

Forward, the full-beam master suite is raised half a level, so the view from the king bed through the surround of panoramic windows is even more breathtaking. The floor-to-ceiling, Grigio Carnico marble master bathroom with dual sinks has a truly man-sized spa bath and shower, both with built-in televisions.
Four guest suites positioned on the lower level show their Italian pedigree with names like Elba and Portifino. Slightly varied furnishings in each stateroom, from chic fixtures to luxurious soft goods, suggest subtle yet distinct personalities. Two convertible twins and two spacious double staterooms make accommodations especially flexible for families with a nanny or security staff.

The upper level sky lounge has U-shape sofa seating opposite a 103-inch Plasma screen. The recessed ceiling displays a sculptural solar system mounted at center with lights that change colors. Among the many clever details, the custom-designed coffee table is fitted with the circular Sealyon logo. Laura demonstrates how a champagne bucket is concealed within.
Outdoors aft, a very posh, circular table has seating for the entire charter party. Above, two televisions drop down from the ceiling. The sumptuous rotating sun bed has mist options for cooling down. Plush banquettes, lounges and armchairs surrounded by tropical plants are bathed in the beautiful glow of many candles. Nighttime on the aft deck is gorgeous.

The stunning, teak-finished, split-level sundeck is made for a party. Forward, the 12-person Jacuzzi with Chroma therapy lighting, and the bow bedecked with sun pads, makes this area understandably magnetic. A centrally positioned stand-up bar services guests both forward and aft with ease. The expansive aft area offers plenty of seating for large gatherings, as well as intimate tables for two.
On the bridge deck, the Owner’s rosewood office is exquisite. The décor is gentlemanly; the equipment is top notch. The buffalo leather floor has an inlay of almond gold studs that mimic a carelessly strewn necklace, or perhaps a piece of ship’s cord. Laura confesses this is her favorite room, and the place where the Owner most enjoys getting away from the kids.
Whether cruising the Mediterranean in the summer season, or the Caribbean during winter, SEALYON is a very popular charter yacht and always very busy. With a fast cruising speed of 15.5 knots, SEALYON is an excellent option for charter guests who enjoy island hopping, or visiting many ports. Of course the toy chest is loaded and includes a 7m slide. The yacht accommodates 12 guests in six staterooms.
