Below, a Romantic Virgin Islands yachting itinerary thoughtfully designed for couples who want to celebrate their love. Whether the occasion is a honeymoon, anniversary or amorous getaway, the Virgin Islands are a perfect escape. Your crew, Captain Neil and Chef Karen, have written this itinerary to discreetly share with you their favorite spots to be together, away from civilization.
Day 1. Yacht Haven Grande to Christmas Cove
Sailing catamaran LAYSAN docks at Yacht Haven Grande in Charlotte Amalie Harbor, just a 10-minute taxi ride from St. Thomas International Airport. Step aboard your private yacht and we greet you with a warm welcome and a chilled glass of champagne. Your beautiful charter begins.
Once you have your luggage in the cabin we will meet on deck for a safety briefing. Then we hoist the sails and head for the sparkling clear waters of Christmas Cove, USVI. You can plunge right off the deck to float in the balmy, Caribbean Sea. We anchor here for the night.
Day 2. Jost Van Dyke & White Bay
LAYSAN is designed for performance sailing. We enjoy showing off her capabilities on this exhilarating sail to Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands. We will clear customs and then serve lunch on the aft deck. The views are spectacular.
This afternoon, go beachcombing and soak up the sun on a talcum powder, sandy beach at White Bay. In the evening, we will anchor off the island of Sandy Spit. It is a beautiful, secluded and very romantic spot to be together.
Day 3. Sandy Cay & Muskmelon Bay
This morning, we will move the yacht to Sandy Cay (pronounced key), a tiny, uninhabited island just a few miles away. Sandy Cay boasts pristine white sand and ideal snorkeling. Swim ashore and follow the trail around this protected paradise.
After breakfast, we set sail to Muskmelon Bay, on Guana Island, another secluded anchorage. Rocky cliffs surrounding the bay give it a very majestic feel. Experienced divers can reach spectacular reefs at depths of 60 to 80 feet in ever-so-clean water.
Native birds and animals that have been wiped out on other Caribbean islands still thrive on Guana Island thanks to a decades-long restoration project, including the stout iguana and several other lizard species. We think it’s one of the best-kept secrets in the BVI. In the evening, relax on the trampoline with sundowners and hors d’oeuvres as the sun sinks below the horizon.
Day 4. Marina Cay & Ixora Spa
Today we sail to Marina Cay, a flower-infused, eight-acre island ringed by a dreamy, white sand beach. It is the center of a green lagoon with calm, warm, shallow water. Snorkel the amazing reef, home to schools of colorful fish and marine life.
After a romantic champagne brunch, we sail to the highly-rated Scrub Island Resort where you both will enjoy a complimentary couples spa treatment at the Ixora Spa, rated a Top 10 Spa by Caribbean Travel & Life.

Day 5. Virgin Gorda & Peter Island
While it’s no secret, one of our favorite attractions is The Baths on Virgin Gorda. Climbing around the massive granite boulders and splashing in the shallow pools is great fun. Virgin Gorda Sound has gentle surf, perfect for kayaking, snorkeling or napping in the sun.
For lunch, we stop at Cooper Island Beach Resort. The excellent restaurant is located in a breezy pavilion. The Cooper Island Brewing Company, a microbrewery, produces a variety of fine beers. Cooper Island is also home to one of the best rum bars in the Caribbean. Anchor for the evening in Great Harbour, Peter Island. Dance the night away aboard the famous Willie T.
Day 6. Norman Island Caves and Pirates Bight
This morning we drop anchor off the legendary Caves on Norman Island. Unverified stories of sunken treasure found in the caves continue to inspire treasure hunters of all ages. You can swim into the caves and snorkel all around them. Keep an eye out for doubloons. Later it’s time to relax with sundowners at Pirates Bight beach club.
Day 7. St John Island
This day we dedicate to relaxation and rejuvenation. Spend the day on anchor at Francis Bay, St. John Island in the US Virgins. This is a protected nature reserve. Here, natural beauty will enchant you. Envision white sand, tropical sun, cooling shade, and calm surf for excellent swimming and snorkeling.
Day 8. Yacht Haven Grande
Your last day begins with a pleasant downwind sail to Yacht Haven Grande Marina. By now you may want to take a final turn at the helm! As you sail past the stunning seascape you reflect on the wonderful adventures you’ve had. We hope you’ll also be planning your next charter aboard LAYSAN again soon!
